First of all, I have to tell you all now:

Holy shit digital art tests your patience! This would have taken me half twenty minutes tops, but instead, it took me a good two and some hours.

Since playing audience to

's gorgeous gallery, I've attempted digital art a couple of times this week and I'm not sure if it's my incredible lack of skill in colour or my laziness/extreme impatience - but I just can't... So I've taken the easy path and have stuck with my familiar black and white.

And here be an eye. Come back in a couple of weeks and you might find a portrait, a portrait of whom, you ask? Vanyel Ashkevron!

What I've used:
- a light grey background and slightly darker grey shading,
- 10% black for shading (escalating to get it smoothly darker),
- smudging with various strengths for the eyelashes,
- white for highlights,
- eraser with various opacities and strengths.

I totally hear you on digital, but it gets easier!! I find it makes life a lot easier if you use lots of layers and keep a colour reference handy to pick up shades from. My eyes are pretty much incapable of picking the correct colours by themselves - eyedropper = best friend. Nice tutorial!
